Combination of data-capture technologies in a small package
[HF RFID + NFC + 1D + 2D]
ASR-0240D is a mobile HF RFID, NFC & 1D/2D barcode Reader. Thanks to the built in lightening connector that Apple introduced in 2012, the r-touch is compatible with any of the latest iOS products that connect to the 8 pin connector.
ASR-0240D’s RFID Engine is a 13.56MHz UHF band RFID reader/writer and has FCC and CE certification for each model. You can adjust the radio frequency bandwidth between these levels using software, to suit your requirements.
Find the perfect fit
A case that holds the product together
All of our 3-piece line of data capture products require a case to bind the solution together. Below are some of the options available. Cases can also be personalised with patterns, colours and logo’s.
Quality, reliable in-built pairing
Touch Officially Apple Certified
Thanks to a 2012 8-pin Apple lightening connector that is embedded into the Engine, the ASR-031D is compatible with any of the latest iOS products that utilize the 8 pin connector.
Pairing iOS device and Engine could not be more straight-forward. Simply plug the iOS device of your choice into the Engines built in lightening connector, and a blue LED light will signal to let you know that both components are connected. This functionality makes the use of Bluetooth obsolete, saving you valuable battery life.
The fact that ASR-031D uses hardware connectivity to charge means that you only require one charging cable to charge both the iOS device of your choice, and the RFID engine itself. (Learn more about Multi-charging in the tab above).

Charging has never been so easy
Touch provides a selection of battery charger options for convenient battery charging
We have a selection of charging options available for all readers / scanners in the ASR collection.
The Multi-charger (picture 1), Stand-charger (picture 2) and the Mobile-charger (picture 3).
The four rings enable the charging process by connecting with a magnetic charger – the same effect as plugging in a cable, but much simpler & not fragile like a mini-USB connections.
A built-in wireless charging system with the same charging speed as a micro USB or Apple© Lightning Connector. Just place your b-touch reader on the charger for instant charging via the magnetic connector.

Retail
With many of the Touch project team being ex-retailers themselves, we know the in-store processes, implementation challenges, and the huge inventory management control that is needed. With Touch readers, retail shop floor could not be a more perfect environment for the devices that are slim, stylish, compact and full of feature-rich customer service applications that is unrivaled in any other mobile readers when you put all these elements together.
Healthcare
One of the great things we are doing at Touch Technologies, is bringing the price of RFID readers closer than ever to the price of barcode readers. Giving the end-user the opportunity and freedom to explore both technologies. In health-care both RFID and Barcode reading can be used to great success tracking medical records, laboratory results, a supply to a particular patient and also identify the clinician who used it with the patient. Also organised inventory control within healthcare can be crucial, with Touch’s RFID and Barcode readers you can automatically reorder products when they reach a specific inventory level, or prevent surgical utensils from being left inside a patient. The last thing you want to do is create an inventory control nightmare in your healthcare facility.
Warehousing
Barcode readers have been used in warehouse environments for years, delivering a solid, secure data collection process.
The predominant purpose of using RFID is to increase warehouse efficiency by reducing labor and logistic costs that are otherwise skyrocketing and provides ever-increasing pressure on profit margins in today’s competitive environment. It is cost-efficient because the warehouses can now streamline several operational areas inside their premises.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: On average, how long will an iPhone battery last with continuous reading?
A: iPhone’s battery will last about 5.5hrs/25,000 time’s continuous reading on iPhone’s default brightness setting. At which point r-touch’s battery will still have about 50% charge.
Q: How many charging cables do I need?
A: Just one charging cable is required to charge both parts; the iOS device and r-touch’s batteries will charge simultaneously due to Touch’s Multi-charging system (read more in the tab above). iPhone and ASR-031D’s batteries will be recharged in 3.5 hrs and 2 hrs respectively in simultaneous recharging mode. Touch Technologies also provide mobile battery chargers that were built niche to the b-touch / r-touch range. These mobile battery chargers stick to the back of the engine, pulled together through strong magnets, much like the charging cable of a MacBook.
Q: Can I download an SDK?
A: SDK is available for free download, simply contact us and we can assist.
Q: Is Bluetooth required when pairing Engine TO iOS device?
A: No, ASR-031D’s Engine pairs via a built in lightening connector, eradicating the need for in battery draining Bluetooth.
Q: Other than Software confirmation, is there any other way I will recognize that my iOS device has successfully paired with my r-touch Reader?
A: A blue LED light will turn on once the chosen iOS device has successfully paired with r-touch. The LED light will turn off after a first tag has been read.
